The moving/house/estate sale ended today at 1:00. We have so much clean up to do! David Sebastian who conducted our sale said although the weather was good, the road construction outside our house blocked a lot of the traffic to the house. There were still a lot of people but they tended to buy the smaller things. We're left with a lot of furniture that we need to get rid of very quickly. Luckily, David knows a person who can take care of that.
We tried to clean up the house and make it somewhat livable again. Good friends who used to live in our neighborhood invited us to dinner. It was wonderful and sad to see them this last time before we move. Their children grew up with ours. We babysat each other's children. We listened to each other's problems and joys these past 30 years. And now it was time to say good bye and it was hard. I was surprised that we left so late. It was past 11:00 PM.
We had to make our bed and get ourselves organized before going to bed. This next week is going to be unbelievably busy! Arrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Am I stressed? No, no,no,no.....perfectly calm....Arrrgghhhhhhh!
What a pity the council chose today to do the work outside your house. Never mind, a lot of stuff is on it's way to new homes to be loved by new people. It must all seem very weird. That's a lovely photograph, one to cherish. Keep calm - make lists, that's what I always do when I've got lots to do, it helps me to keep calm and organised.
ReplyDeleteOnly 7 days of stress left. Then you restart your Hawaii life from Day Zero. Soon the hard part will be over.
ReplyDeleteOh Kay, Naomi and Edo join me in wishing you continued strength.
You have wonderful friends!! I foresee many people now having a reason to visit the beauty of Hawaii and connect with you, too.
ReplyDeleteHang in there.
Your evening with your former neighborhood friends sounded lovely and sad at the same time. These goodbyes are surely difficult.
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking of you this week.
let it out in spurts the frustration and stress, writing is a wonderful vehicle to do that. we'll all listen and be sympathetic. you have many friends virtual and otherwise. you will love returning to your homeland of hawaii and all the new friends waiting to be made. life only gets better. enjoy the great changes coming and let a few tears out so you don't have a cloudburst one day...even that's okay.
ReplyDeleteAfter everything you have done so far, this last week will go by in a flash. Remember, it's only things.
ReplyDeleteI will be posting a going away gift for you tomorrow. I hope you will stop by!
