It was fun to watch a wedding couple having their photos taken while we sat on our beach mat.
KC refused to walk or sit on the sand. We had to bring the towel up to the sand so she could sit and play with her sand toys.
Both of my children were champion swimmers in high school. I made sure they could swim since I can't. Yes, it's true. Please don't scold me. I took golf in college instead of swimming. Can I play golf? I did get an A but no, I haven't a clue how to play golf.
We tried to encourage KC to get in the water but she was having none of it.
When Tif tried to lower her into the water KC would wrap her legs around her mom or curl them away from the water.
Finally, KC agreed to go in her little "floatie" and had a wonderful time.
We had a lovely time at the beach. I know some day she will be swimming like a fish, or at least like her mommy, daddy, Uncle Jonny and Auntie Sarah... that is, if she can find a way to get from the beach towel to the water without touching sand.
Oh sweet!! Great story of your day at the beach. I was so happy when in the end KC got "on" the water.

What a wonderful way to spend the day, and wow what a city girl she is LOL. That's funny about the sand--my youngest can't tolerate a buzzing fly. She puts her hands over her ears and screams until she's convinced the fly is gone...oh she's fun at a picnic! LOL
ReplyDeleteI send all my kids to swim lessons too, because I can't swim either. And I live on an island too! LOL
I forgot to say what I most wanted to say, that the last photo is something really special. The others are cute and funny and Tif's smile is beautiful, but the last one just seems to sum up the last days together beautifully.

Your golfing course in college sounds as worthwhile as my tennis course. I learned to hit a ball against a wall, that that was it.
ReplyDeleteThe ocean must look exceptionally huge to KC. She'll get more comfortable with it in time, but it'll always look huge, I'm sure. You got some great photos of the day.
My eldest son was like that, couldn't bear to get sand on himself when he was tiny, so it was several years before we could get him to play with sand. Mind you, I wasn't much help, I've never enjoyed sitting on a beach.
ReplyDeleteI had to pass a swim test at my jr college in california or take a swim class before graduating. I took the class and passed with a C. I can swim about 6 strokes and can float. I had all my sons take swimming and my oldest was on a swim team and now does water therapy in Santa Fe with children. Kids are funny and each is unique. Fun photos-thanks for taking us to the beach.

ReplyDeleteHow sweet! I love watching little kids at the Beach! They either love the water or hate it. Then next year you might not get KC out of the water, they change so quickly! Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteYes, this sounds familier too. This year Irene was four years old and didn't want to get out of the surf, but two years ago it was a completely different story!

They will when they're ready.
That's funny because my daughter didn't like the sand when she was little either. To play in it, not to sit in it..interesting...Love the photo above with the swiffer helper... Michelle
