I was getting very used to having all my children and their families around me under one roof. Now Jon and Sarah have left us to go to California to visit Art's sister and then back to New Mexico to start their lives anew. Jon is giving up his firefighting career to return to college and choose another field of study. Sarah will be giving up her career as a journalist to begin another challenge in government work.
They met in the Peace Corps and are unafraid to make changes in their lives. They travel around the world with little fear or money and create incredible memories. I'm in awe of them both. They are both also really fast at crossword puzzles and put me to shame.
I've treasured every minute we were able to spend together and now I'm feeling a little sad. First Tif's husband, Ed left and now Jon and Sarah. We still have Tif and KC for another two weeks.
I will be using every minute of precious time to enjoy those two weeks. Please forgive me for not being able to visit a little longer. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you've all been up to once everyone has left.
They met in the Peace Corps? Wow, they really are amazing people plus changing the route in their lives that sudden. Must've taken loads of courage.

ReplyDeleteI get sad too when Bob leaves at Christmas,I usually only get to see him once a year. But this year might be twice .

ReplyDeleteOh, don't mind us. Enjoy your family, these times are so precious. Is seems that they don't happen often enough (at least, for me they don't). I can't get enough of the sweet moments spent with the kids.

ReplyDeleteIt really is hard when your children are scattered all over the world. I am very, very lucky to have both children here in NC and very near to Charlotte.
ReplyDeleteWe had Jake with us for a few days at the beach. Everyone loves having him around and it just seems a bit empty when he leaves, so I know what you mean.
