My friend, Myrtle just sent me a helpful hint that I really love. I don't need most of these symbols, but there have been so many times that I needed the degree symbol and the cent sign but couldn't find it.
Woo hoo! Now I know and now you do too! And now I need to find a place to put this where I can remember.

Hey! I didn't know this! Very cool. Mahalo, DrumMajor
ReplyDeleteThat is great! Thanks for the tip. Now I wish they also had the accents we need when writing in French.
ReplyDeleteif u r on a windows machine, click on Start (lower left), then Programs > Accesories > System tools > Character Map. You can choose , copy and paste the accented alphabet or character, that you need from there. Voilà !
DeleteIncidentally, some of the characters in Kays post are also there in this set of characters. Do check !
Thanks, I found the Character Map...¢...it works, just copy and paste as I did the cents sign here!! Never used this before.

I just did this and found that Character Map. Thank you, Ugich! I just LOVE learning from each other.
DeleteI don't have a second set of number keys on my laptop, so I'm wondering if it will still work on a Mac. I'll give it a try. Nope. Alt-3 gives me this: £ (the pound sign, right?) I'll bet this works somehow on Macs. :-)
ReplyDeleteI found a link that gives all the symbols, including accents for foreign languages – here it is: http://www.alt-codes.net/
ReplyDeleteTrying again, after checking in Google. ♥ Yayy! You just type (together) Option-Command-T and a neat little box comes up with all kinds of things, including just about everything! Thanks, Kay! ❤
ReplyDeleteOi, but my notebook computer has no number pad. Oh well, thanks anyway, Kay. You go have fun with it.
ReplyDeleteInteresting - some of these I get with 'insert' in Word but these are quicker for a blog post.
ReplyDeleteI knew how to do this on my PC. Thanks to DJan, now I know how to do this on my new MAC. Thanks for posting this tip!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how much I will you most of these symbols, but it is fun to know I can.
ReplyDeleteok saving these, thanks Kay! I made an art post the other day using Timbuktu, Mali as an address, inspired by you!

wow, I'll have to save this somewhere...great hints! I'm always looking for a copyright symbol...
ReplyDeleteThanks I will try some of these soon. Dianne
ReplyDeleteOh, boy. Now this is useful stuff. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHow cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks :-)
Fun. I had no idea. I'll have to try these out when I move to my desk top computer. No number pad on my lap top.
ReplyDeleteI knew of this via my German teacher, there were some umlauts inputs he taught us.
ReplyDeleteI always wondered how to do these. Thanks Kay!
