Do you remember the old poem about the days of the week?
Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child who is born on the Sabbath day,
Is lucky and happy and good and gay.
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child who is born on the Sabbath day,
Is lucky and happy and good and gay.
Our daughter, Tiffany was born on a Friday and I remembered this poem. I was happy to discover that as she grew she really was loving and giving.
Then our son was born on a Sunday. Jonathan is happy, good and gay. I think. Was he lucky? I don't know. He was born in that elevator. He's had his share of broken arms as a child and a collection of other injuries from his many adventures. I suppose he's lucky that he's survived them.
Art was born on a Thursday and he does say he still has far to go. He loves to travel.
My brother is definitely Saturday's child and has always worked hard for a living.
I was born on Wednesday and I have had my share of woes. Hopefully, it's all behind me since I'm following after the guy who has far to go.
If you go to Calendar Calculator you can find out what day of the week you were born on.
And mom? She was born on a Sunday, but she's had an early life full of woes. I'm glad she's now like her grandson being happy and good and gay.

Two kids in a basket, cute.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Tuesday kid, unless you go by the Hebrew calendar.
And you have always been full of grace, dear Dina.
DeleteI am Sunday's child. Didn't have to go to calculator to know that. My father was a minister and I have always been told how he still managed to preach overtime the Sunday I was born even though mother was already in labor.
ReplyDeleteWow! I hope your mom didn't mind.
DeleteThanks for the link, i was wondering how you knew all those days
ReplyDeleteI've know it all my life, and as a Tuesday's child, wondered about Wednesdays. :-)
ReplyDeleteAha, another person full of grace, especially when gliding through the air. I didn't want my children born on Wednesday because of this silly nursery rhyme. However... I've been OK despite it.
DeleteThanks for the link. I found out I'm a Sunday child, too.
ReplyDeleteAhhh... all you blessed babies.
DeleteInteresting link. Both my son and I are Monday children, my daughter is a Tuesday child. Mike was a Thursday child. I do remember taking note of that poem when my kids were born.
ReplyDeleteI was born on a Wednesday
ReplyDeleteJust like me...
DeleteI was told that I was born on Father's Day, a Sunday. When my young son and I went to the library to look up the local paper's front page for his birth date, I looked up mine. I was born on a Monday, the day after Father's Day! (My Mom must have started the labor on Father's Day.)

What a joyous day that was for your obstetrician father, DrumMajor!
DeleteSince I was the first female born into the family in 50 years, yes it was a jolly day. Mostly, my Dad was still in his residency with the included medical benefits, and he was hoping I was born before his residency ended. I made it into the world 9 days before his residency ended!
DeleteAnd, no. my Dad didn't deliver me. He probably wasn't even in the room back in '54.
Dad always told me, unless it's an emergency, like birthing in an elevator, docs shouldn't treat or do surgery on their spouses, "in case something happens." DrumMajor
Thursday. I'm a Thursday child with far to go.
ReplyDeleteI was born on a Saturday. That's a fun link. Thanks Kay.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Sunday child, but that's as far as it goes I think!
ReplyDeleteI don't even know what day of the week I was born on. I think I'll look it up.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what day I was born on. Will look it up. It doesn't matter though, my mother thought I was a genius because I rolled over at one week and was potty trained at six months. Freud said if your mother thought you were the cat's meow, you would be successful throughout life because you would feel confident. Numbers were rejected for my "top level name."
ReplyDeleteAnd by golly! Your mom was right, Hank! You ARE a genius! SIX months???? Good grief!
DeleteI wnder if Mom's hidden message was that SHE was the genius? Also, maybe my personality was permanently warped as a result.
DeleteMONDAY! If only I had known! :-) This rubric is too hard on Wednesday's child and could create compexes. To quote Henry Fielding from "Tom Thumb, or the Tragedy of Tragedies. "That was a day, a day indeed, a day we've never seen before." Note: That's true of every day, Tom]. As usual, I got something wrong in the computer biz. Aargh. The name line DOES accept numbers. My actual mistake was I only put in one back slash in the URL.
ReplyDeleteI still don't know how you get to change your name like that. You ARE a true genius!
DeleteI agree with Hank. It really is tough on Wednesday's child. Glad you latched on to a goer. Good move.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Sunday's child and really have been quite lucky and happy.
I used the linked calculator to discover I was born on a Monday. "Fair of face" is not what I'm known for. I'll just go for the "fair". I do try hard to be that. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are beautiful inside and out, Linda!
DeleteYes! I know this rhyme very well. I also know I was born on a Saturday, go and tell my boss, would you! ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Kay, you are such a fun gal...you, full of woe? FORGET ABOUT IT!!
I was born on FRIDAY...interesting how the meaning of gay has changed over the years...lol!
ReplyDeleteI was born on Thursday and both my kids were born on Sunday. I still am not sure what "far to go" means but if it means a rocky path, it's prolly true for me.
ReplyDeleteI am a Sunday child :) I wonder if that's why it's my favorite day of the week?
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely poem, Kay! I am sure that your children must have been very happy with such loving and caring parents!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your heartwarming comment on my blog. Yes, I agree with you that war is terrible and will only know losers.Let us pray that there will never be another war in our lifetime.
Have a happy weekend, Kay!
I was born on Monday. Looks only get you so far!! Dianne
ReplyDeleteI have no idea of what day of the week anyone in my family, including me, was born. Research is about to start, thanks to this post.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of the two kiddos in the basket.
ReplyDeleteI was born on a Wednesday. You and I have that in common. I have two children born on Sunday. Two were born on Tuesday, and one was born on Thursday. I can't really make the Tuesday's child work for the two born on Tuesday.
What a lovely photo!
ReplyDeleteGreetings, RW & SK
Am a Thursday child . Guess I'll have far to go. Son is a Saturday child. Hope life will treat him good
ReplyDeleteAw! A touching poist, Kay!
