We were out early going to the Open (Farmers) Market and I was really feeling chilled. I even had my hoodie on. Art thought it was hilarious. We have spent 35 + years in Chicago after all.
On the way home he happened to check the outside temperature on the car dashboard and took a photo of it.
Yes! 55 degrees!
We texted our daughter, Tif a few days ago saying how cold it was for Hawaii at 60 degrees. She laughed and told us that everybody was saying it was unseasonably warm in Chicago at 50 degrees. Warmth is relative, I guess.

Yes, it depends on where you actually are and what time of the year it is for the same temperature to feel so different. I was noticing that just the other day, Kay. :-)

ReplyDeleteI bet you were cold. Warmth is relative. A damp 50 is much different that a sunny dry 50. At here on a sunny day, I usually run around outside without a jacket. I may wear a light sweater, in case of a breeze
ReplyDeleteCooler temperatures are especially hard for us Hawaii folks because we don't have indoor heating and insulation. Single walled construction is no better than a tent in 50s weather...sheesh.

It is what you are use to and the dampness. 55 in Florida was jacket weather, here it is a gloriously warm day.
ReplyDeleteWarmth is relative but I wouldn't have wanted to spend money to get to Hawaii and find those temperatures. You'll live with those temps, no worries!!!
ReplyDeleteWe got used to the early spring weather with sunshine and temps in the 60's. So when it went dark, rainy and barely 50 this weekend, we all shivered.

ReplyDeleteI'd be very happy with 55F (nearly 13C). Mind you, spring is on the way and we have temperatures of around 7-9C (44-48) at the moment, which still means coats and gloves when we go out, and double sweaters indoors.
