Make no mistake. We love living in Hawaii again. It's where we were born and raised and it's where we returned after 35 years to take care of my mother.
I do miss spring though. We have often traveled in spring the last few years to take mom to see gorgeous spring flowers elsewhere. And yet, I don't think you experience that same euphoria unless you've been through a difficult winter season.
My son sent a photo to us recently that brought tears to my eyes.
They'd taken our grandson, JD to see cherry blossoms at the National Mall.
With a determined look on his sweet face, he was reaching out to touch a cluster of cherry blossoms.
Oh gosh...
I wish I could have been there with them. I wish I could have picked him up and let him touch the flowers myself.
I wish I was there.

ReplyDeleteJust a hug.
ReplyDeleteOK, now you need to plan a travel to the mainland next spring.
ReplyDeleteAh spring is new babies and buds!
ReplyDeleteAmerica is often too big land-size for our own good.
ReplyDeletethat is such a sweet photo!
ReplyDeleteAww Kay there is Skype for now.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely priceless
ReplyDeleteHandsome little prince. Look at all that hair!
ReplyDeletesending you hugs and prayers.
ReplyDeleteIt's not spring you miss but the grandchild experiencing spring for the first time.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! You've nailed it. So very true.
DeleteIt does make it tough to have them living so far east and in different places. I find that our visits to Seattle, where both our daughters and our four grandchildren live, and their visits to us, keep us happy enough. I start getting upset and missing them after a couple of months. We just got back from seeing them and will visit them again in May.
ReplyDeleteAnd we have enjoyed a lot of springs and falls with them.
They do grow fast. Sounds like there needs to be a trip in your future for a grandson fix.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet, bitter sweet. Have them come to Hawaii for a visit and delight in the to and fro of the ocean at beach side.
ReplyDeleteAfter this first [albeit Bay Area] winter in 30 years my eyes are full of tears at the flowers, blue skies, singing birds, and temps in the 70's this week! Yea, Spring means more when Wointer has been got through (it rained and was even into the 40's here!)
ReplyDeleteYou got it right when you said you really appreciate spring after a dreary (rainy) winter. I'm loving all the smiles and happy faces I see around here these days. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, My heart hurts for your longing. I think you need to plan now for a spring trip next year, to see both of your precious grandchildren, and spring in bloom.
ReplyDeleteThere is something to be said for living in a four season climate. While I might wish that our winter season were shorter, I really don't mind it.
ReplyDeleteTouching the flowers is illegal as police patrolling everywhere will tell you. Even children are not allowed to touch them.
ReplyDeleteWow! No kidding? I've never heard of anything like that anywhere else in the world we've been.
DeleteAwwww, Kay . . .
ReplyDeleteSweet boy! It is moving even to see but one quarter of his face.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel, Kay.
It's sweet, isn't it?!
