Fake News on Both Sides

I recently saw the following on Facebook that a friend posted. It sounded so much like Trump that I shared it on my Facebook page.

But then....

I thought about it.

A while ago, I shared something else that I'd seen on Facebook. I later checked it out on Snopes and discovered it wasn't true and immediately deleted it.

After a couple of seconds, I did a quick check on this one and darn! This was fake too.

I deleted it immediately and informed my friend.

I keep thinking that it's only the "other side" that is flooding the Internet with FAKE NEWS, but sorry to say, it's being produced by both sides.

We have to be very careful. I shall/might stick to sharing photography or cute puppy posts from now on, if at all.

  1. Sounds like something he'd say but he wouldn't have said it in complete sentences and there would be several "verys" scattered throughout.

  2. The problem is, people are making jokes, like the above, and others take them seriously! There are many who simply have to laugh at the man. It's not so much fake news, and laughter is the best medicine.
The sneaky stuff was those who claimed, for example, that President Obama wasn't born in the US, or was Muslim. It just goes on and on.
I'm with you on Snopes, though. There are a lot of people who simply do not check. This is how the Russians influenced the election.
The worst, though, was when they were trying to install Obamacare. There were thousands of emails, with exactly the same message, in my Ontario Healthcare feeds, claiming that Canadians were traveling to the US. I There was a conspiracy not just 'fake news.'

  3. It does make you wonder doesn't it ,

  4. I don't know what to share these days. Dan Rather and a few other reporter's posts get my nod. One Dem group can be shared once in a while. These posts leave me with great doubt.

  6. I have caught a few things on Scopes but have to admit that I saw this one on FB and believed it. Ya gotta admit that it seems credible from all we have seen from the guy.

  7. That's true it's on both sides however when it comes to the Trumpanzees it's real news that's the issue

    When something real comes out

    1. It's Fake news

    then Trump admits it

    2. He was in the total right to do it.

  8. This is one more reason why I stay away from politics in my blogs. It's hard enough to keep my brain free and clear of awful stuff that makes its way around the internet. I read Facebook but have blocked the people who post political dirt. It works pretty well. :-)

  12. I do check all that comes to me via emails with Snopes. Only takes a minute and most of it is fake. Even those puppy ones can be fake. Drat.

  14. I take everything with a pinch of salt, always have, always will. I have friends who send me a lot of this kind of thing, yes from both sides. I just keep hitting the delete button. some emails are positively vile.

    1. I also meant to add that whenever I read anything else on this present administration, I feel like I am watching a runaway train.

  15. Both sides liberally use fake news. One is just a little smoother at it.

  16. Main stream media is main stream for a reason. It is actual journalism. Much of what is on the internet is not. I stick to worthy sources that are well verified.
The difference between "both sides" is the on one side it is the president who engages in fake news and doesn't even seen to know or care.

  17. The way to avoid fake news is not to listen to ANY news.

  18. We can't do that. We would be completely ignorant of what is going on in the world and have no idea who to vote for. We just have to be sure we have real news sources and not facebook or other types of spam. I stay with CBS, CNN, NBC, and ABC. PBS is my best source for news. The reason we have this president is that too many people are ignorant about what is really true anymore. They rely on Fox News or the internet. They vote with their emotions and not with their brains.

    1. Exactly. The major news organizations are almost always accurate and quickly retract if something is amiss.

  19. Both sides are guilty...if not actual lies...certainly exaggeration. I do think Trump lies more than everyone combined, though.

  20. I just decided Facebook was too much time wasted and I closed my account.

  21. I think a lot of the fake news is generated by sources not associated with either side. This is deliberately done to creare the animosity they want to create for their own agenda -- just as often occurs when peaceful groups hold protests. These are extremist groups, others who do it just for fun, and likely a foreign government wanting to keep our nation in turmoil would find doing so very effective in fostering division in this country. Too many people are being taken in by these tactics.

I really LOVE hearing from you! However, if you sign in as ANONYMOUS, please don't forget to tell me who you are in the comment box by just writing your first name. We would all appreciate it if you kept your comment respectful and kind.

I’m using Comment Moderation for any post that is more than a day old because of aggravating SPAM. Therefore, if your comment does not go up on an older (more than a day old) post, it's because I need to OK it first. I'm sorry to have to do this, but again... sigh... it's the spam that's driving me crazy.
