When our daughter realized that her father was getting rather bored at home, she decided to give him a project. He does like projects so she sent him something that would really tax his concentration.
It’s a 1,200 piece puzzle. Ummm.... I remembered that 800 piece puzzle that took four of us two days to do when we visited them this winter.
He's now glued to the puzzle table and has been working on it a couple of hours in the morning and another couple of hours in the afternoon. He's trying to entice mom into helping him but all she does is laugh.
I wonder how long this will take.

I used to do puzzles with my mom when I was young. She always had a puzzle going. I gave it up when I had Missy, my cat. She liked to tear them up.

ReplyDeleteWhen he's done, you may want to use that glue to cover puzzles! (My 76-year-old brother is building a tractor from one of those old Erector metal girder building sets.....but it's a new set!) Linda in Kansas

DeleteI am not a fan of puzzles. That one is HUGE, and I guess he doesn't try to entice you to help him, eh? :-)

ReplyDeleteI've done a number of puzzles in this isolation period but none more than 700 pieces - dining room table not larger enough to share puzzle and eating surface. I had a couple of strategies: sort by color, sort by type of piece, look for lines to connect. He's probably doing all these things. You know its something to keep him occupied.
ReplyDeleteI like easy puzzles so I feel a sense of achievement. Hubby and I are playing cards games when he's not working in the yard...skip bo, rummy kub, etc.
ReplyDeleteYikes that is a monster one. That will keep him busy a long time though he has really made headway on the edges. My cat doesn't allow puzzles-she thinks they are to be destroyed.
ReplyDeleteGlad he likes it. Takes all kinds. I wouldn't touch a jigsaw puzzle, but my wife just finished a 1000-piece puzzle that's been on a card table in the living room for the last two weeks. She loved it. Go figure!
ReplyDeleteGood for Art. That's a little beyond me. I gave a couple of 1000 piece puzzles recently to my grandkids, they loved them. Found another 700 piece in a closet. I think I'll do it first before I pass it along.

ReplyDeleteI've sent Mother's Day flowers to my daughter. And we have the grandkids here.
Oh, how I love puzzles! It was my go-to activity when I was young - and we only had one puzzle, so I would do and redo the same puzzle. He has good control if only 2 hours at a time. When I do puzzles, it is for hours and hours and my neck and shoulders get all sore. Go Art!

ReplyDeleteI have heard of so many people relying on puzzles to help them through. I gave puzzles to my daughter and my grandchildren for Christmas -- did I have a prescient moment there?
