18 Days Before D(eparture) Day: Not a Whole Lot of Joy

This is it! It's the last day before the movers come. We're going to pack up the desktop computer today and clean out the desks. I'll be switching over to our very old unpredictable laptop. I'm feeling rather wistful about using my computer on my desk in my office for the last time.

I should buy a lottery ticket. After living here 34 years without much mishap on our streets, they've chosen these two months to replace all the water mains. While that's quite nice for our daughter and family who are moving in, it's torn up the roads and made them dusty. It's also been raining so the dust is now mud. Yesterday, we've noticed that out of about a 100 homes they're about ready to be right in front of ours tomorrow. I spoke to the fellow who seemed to be in charge and he says they'll work around us. How is it that in 34 years out of a 100 or so homes, they would be right here just when the movers come? Hmmm... maybe I will buy a ticket, one last time.

Remember me saying blogging calms me down? I keep rereading your comments telling me that everything will be well. Brit' Gal in the USA said the movers didn't break a single thing when she moved here from England so there's hope. (But maybe the British are better packers?) You're all keeping me sane. Thank you very, very much!

Oh, oh... I've got to go upstairs and bring down our son's surfboards! I forgot all about them. We had them in the "Don't Move" room. Good bye for today.

Tomorrow will be...will be.

  1. Hopefully you'll be able to look back on this dusty, back breaking time and. . .laugh?

  3. You are experiencing 'the distraction'. I can't tell you how many times in my life that while right in the midst of something that I felt was enough to deal with...something additional surfaced. It wss uncanny! I have since dubbed it 'the distraction' that the good Lord has sent along.
Hang in there and remember that,
    'This, too, shall pass.'

  4. I've noticed this kind of coincidence several times myself. Impossible to explain, but very real.

Keep smiling, what needs to be done will get done, and what doesn't get done doesn't matter.

  5. You've got everything under control, from the sound of it. Just keep plugging away, and the move will get done with no major problems.

  7. Hey the unpackers in the USA also didn't break a thing!

All that going on around your house right now is what we would call 'sods law'! I would buy that lottery ticket and I'll look forward to seeing you on the news :-)

  8. Hey Musings, sounds like you're making steady forward progress. That's all that matters at the end of the day.

The city replaced our water/sewer lines a year ago. We had water everywhere -- for months, like driving along the sea shore. When it was all said and done, we had a water bill for $850.00 (where they broke water pipes) Now, "THAT" was a hassle, getting that straightened out.

I really LOVE hearing from you! However, if you sign in as ANONYMOUS, please don't forget to tell me who you are in the comment box by just writing your first name. We would all appreciate it if you kept your comment respectful and kind.

I’m using Comment Moderation for any post that is more than a day old because of aggravating SPAM. Therefore, if your comment does not go up on an older (more than a day old) post, it's because I need to OK it first. I'm sorry to have to do this, but again... sigh... it's the spam that's driving me crazy.
