3 Days Before D(eparture) Day!: Relief!

The biggest thing to accomplish today was the drive back up to Gurnee to get the results of the thyrogen cancer scan. My endocrinologist said nothing lit up to indicate any more thyroid cancer cells. He did say the tests indicated that I still have thyroid cells in my neck so I need to get it checked every year for a while but for now, I'm OK.

I'm OK. Sigh.... I'm OK.

Now... back to concentrating on the move again.

1. We purchased a gift certificate to thank the realtor we almost used before our daughter and son-in-law decided they would buy our house after all. Even though we weren't going to use him, John Adamson gave us lots of terrific recommendations and advice concerning our move. He made things so much easier for us. It was lovely to see him one last time and let him know how much we appreciated his kindness.

2. We went shopping on base to get the house ready for our daughter, Tiffany and her family. They'll be staying in our house every so often until they make the final move after they sell their condo. She's adding a lot of little touches to transition it more into their home now. It's a lovely feeling to see all of KC's toys everywhere and photos on the walls. I dreaded seeing the house empty when we left, but now it's filled with warmth and love again.


3. Gathered the last of our garbage for the BIG pick up tomorrow. Our neighbors were kind enough to let us use their garbage containers to distribute our garbage load. This is Vera who is originally from Germany. Her son, Oliver is one of those sons that everybody wishes every son would be like. When he was 6, he used to walk our daughter home from kindergarten. Her garbage container was the first that we filled.

4. Brought our Honda van in to be serviced for the big cross country trip. We're sure going to miss our car repair place here. It's nice to have a mechanic we really trust.
