(This is a photo from a catalog. It's not our actual bedroom. I wish...)
I hate making decisions. What's even harder is to persuade Art to follow along after I've made the decision. He does get a teeny bit testy saying that I'm asking for his opinion when I've already made up my mind.
Well... We're slowly furnishing our home and we need some bedroom furniture for our master bedroom. I'm thinking I'd like to get a King sized bed. We've always had a Queen but I figure we're at that time in our lives that we could enjoy something rather frivolous like a King size bed... if we can get it up the bend in the stairs someday.
Art thinks the sheets will be too expensive, that it's too big and unnecessary... etc....and we don't need it.
So we went to Homeworld to check out their King sized beds. That's when I found out there were more decisions to make. Sheesh! There's the California King and the Eastern King! Good grief! Donna, our sales associate informed us that the California King is 72 X 84 while the Eastern King is 76 X 80. So Art says, "The California King is for taller and skinnier and the Eastern is for chubbier, shorter?"
Donna said, "Hunh?"
Donna then said it's harder to get Eastern bed sheets in Hawaii. I checked online and read that the Eastern King is the regular King sized bed. I'd better go check this info out also.
Ah well... with the Presidential campaign going on, Hurricane Ike wreaking havoc, I know this is a silly thing to write about. However, with our DSL going kaputs and giving me only moments of being online I decided to just write whatever was crossing my mind right now.
We didn't buy the bedroom set. There wasn't anything we really liked. I'm just waiting for Art to think it was his idea all along.
Key Hello !
ReplyDeleteThe solution is : buy 2 beds !
Each his own...
Smile...
Art sounds like my father! He would make me laugh like that, too. What decisions. That is a beautiful room.
ReplyDeleteI guess Craig's list won't help you with this one. You've had such good luck with it.
ReplyDeleteI say...go with your gut feeling.
Oi, what's up with your DSL?
ReplyDeleteYeah, I hate making decisions too; that's why I never buy anything. hehe
The bigger the bed the more grandchildren can play on it.
If only my bedroom were large enough I would get an Eastern King in a heartbeat!! (Well, I live in the East.) The California King is the odd size here but is gaining in popularity. About the price of sheets, I recently downsized to three sets of sheets - that is all you really ever need anyway. Really two sets would be enough. Tell him that! LOL
ReplyDeleteRemember when decisions used to be much easier, because there were so few options to choose from? Don't even get me started on choosing paint colors, wallpaper, fabric, etc.Q
ReplyDeleteKay, I love the bedroom in that picture! I have a queen size bed and I think the sheets are expensive for that! I only have 3 sets and I just keep rotating them. Good luck!
ReplyDeletei love the bedroom photo=why not go with that design wise but do queen bed. we still sleep on a queen bed and we are tall people but whenever we sleep on a kingsized bed in a hotel we feel lost with all the space and end up sleeping on half of it. it's also harder to make up. I would measure your hallway before buying...fun decisions but hard when your spouse isn't too interested or positive about it. good luck, take your time...
ReplyDeleteWe got a king size not that long ago, we love it. I'm not sure if it's california or not. It's pretty close to square though, it makes it easier to turn the mattress a little; you know to keep it's shape? Anyway, go for it. You only need a few different sheets anyway.
ReplyDeleteI found sheets at Costco, they are very comfy and priced less than in the department stores.
I had to laugh when you said you needed to make Art think it was all his idea, I hate to admit it, but I do the same game!
We have kings (Eastern) in both locations. I guess at our age we need our space. With a king size bed, when one person rolls over, it doesn't affect the other so much.
ReplyDeleteNow we have our newly assembled Sleep Number bed and I'm searching for my sleep number. Hubby thinks he has already found his.
If you watch for an occasional sale, the king sheets are often about the same price as the queen's.

Whoa, sorry. It didn't seem to be working so I hit it again, and again. I guess it was just slow. Oops.
ReplyDeleteKay, you really do need to size up what you can get up your stairs. Watching some House Hunters shows on HGTV, I saw several situations where couple could not use a loft for sleeping because they couldn't get the beds up the stairs.
ReplyDeleteWe have had a king size forever, and queens at our cabins seem too small. In Europe we usually find twin beds pushed together, which would be a solution if the stairs are a problem.
When we moved here 4 years ago, we got a king..I don't know what kind of king..but the sheets are easy to come by. I love having all that room..
