So what to drink? Well, I've never been a huge plain water drinker although I do drink it now. I'm just craving something else. I want something that would perk up my dinner.
We have two Myer lemon trees with fruit right now. I've discovered that my aunt and brother love lemons. My nephew will even squeeze out lemon juice and drink it straight. Yikes! It makes my eyes water just thinking about it.
I can't drink lemonade because... well... the sugar. Lately I've come up with something I really do enjoy although Art thinks I'm a little crazy to pay so much for water with bubbles. He drinks water plain without any ice and loves it that way. It's the better, healthier way; he can be so annoying sometimes.Anyway, here's my recipe.
I get carbonated water like Perrier and pour it over ice with a little regular water to stretch it. Then I squeeze in a slice of lemon and it's really nice. The little fizz buzz makes it special. My mother is loving it, too!
I recommend it!
it's probably due some to the nifty Perrier bottle. I dunno about nowadays, but Diet Pepsi use to be a pandemic addiction among bloggers.
ReplyDeleteI drink diet dr pepper but your drink sounds great or even iced water with lemon in it. there are many options,,,
ReplyDeleteThat sounds good! Better for your teeth too. I love lemon anything - except straight lemon! LOL -- it's one of my favorite flavors for yogurt, jello, sorbet, or whatever.

:-D
My kid brother and his friends ate lemons as if they were oranges when they were growing up in Mexico. It gives me a pain right below my ears to think of it.
ReplyDeleteYour drink sounds delicious, Kay. You can have it at home, order it in a restaurant, whatever. Never mind what Art does. Husbands love to annoy us! LOL

I recently lost my decades long addiction to Diet coke. I'm guessing it has to do with a medication I tale that dehydrates me. I'm now drinking iced tea -- either the green to or the raspberry or peach iced tea. It seems pretty weird but I feel better.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't DIET 7UP taste just as good? Well, maybe not the extra chemicals in that soda. Perrier sounds soooo exotic!
ReplyDeleteHmm....i take a glass of lemon juice(one lemon)with very little honey on empty stomach first thing in the morning.Water is my favorite drink too.Your drink is called fresh lime soda here - it is tasty ,i order it if i dine out because it helps me in digesting a restaurants heavy curries :)
ReplyDeleteI am a Snapple diet peach iced tea fan. I have a friend or two who are hooked on diet pepsi...hard habit to break.
ReplyDeleteI've never liked carbonated drinks, and am quite happy with straight water or herbal tea. But I do like orange juice half and half with tap water. Bottled water is so expensive here and there's a bit of a campaign against it. Restaurants have gone back to offering tap water unless you especially ask for mineral water.
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
ReplyDeletesoda really is not good for us.
Love keeping up with your mother. she is an inspiration to lots of your blog pals I'm sure.

Your drink sounds delicious Kay.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to get off diet coke. I do love Perrier, so I will have to try this.
ReplyDeleteI have long been a sparkling water fan. Amoeba and I quite often have it with our fancy dinners out when other people would order wine. I prefer my Sparkling water with lime.
ReplyDeleteYou might want to try Pelligrino, it is usally just a bit cheaper, and every bit as good.
Quilly: I shall look for it! Thanks for the hint, Quilly!
ReplyDeleteGigi: I have never quite gotten to like Diet anything else. I just don't like that metallic taste.
ReplyDeleteHoney is a natural sweetner that has many other benefits as well! My hubby and son love honey on biscuits with dinner. It is a lot healthier than the butter Aspen and I like! It costs more but we buy honey from a local farm instead of the store. Honey made locally uses local flowers thus supposedly helps with pollen allergies. We haven't noticed a difference in my hubbies allergies but it tastes better!! Here is an article I found on natural sweetners:)

I used to drink quite a bit of diet Coke, but now I only have it at restaurants with some foods, like pizza of french fries. I mostly drink tap water or ice water. But I agree that Perrier with lemon in a fancy glass makes it seem like a treat, without chemicals or sugar. And I have used the green glass bottles as part of my glass garden art!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds good.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I mix a tiny bit of chocolate liqueur with soda water for fun.
Your "It's the better, healthier way; he can be so annoying sometimes" cracks me up! LOL It must be the strategic use of a semicolon.
Everyone I know who drinks diet soda is hyperactive and acts like they have ADD. That stuff can't be good for you.
ReplyDeleteI happen to love plain water, and adding a little ice and lime juice from my lime tree perks it up. We do have good water here.
Oh that's a great idea...
ReplyDeleteHere's a second vote for San Pellegrino; it has a wonderful "chewy" texture, if that's possible for water. You can you it buy the case at Costco for about $1 a bottle. Hope you have a Costco near you.
