My mother's 81st birthday is coming up so my daughter, Tif and her family sent a flat rate box full of goodies not just for KC's great grandmother (we're not letting her open her gifts until it's her actual birthday), but all of us.Tif packed a whole bunch of (dark chocolate covered) fruits and nuts from Trader Joes. There's also Hendrikson's dressing which we like, but can't get here. She made an assortment of gorgeous handmade birthday cards for me to send. There's also foam corners for the shelves in the tool shed so Art doesn't bump his head.
Would you believe she sent (empty)SunChips bags so we could really hear how loud it is? Ummm... I wonder why she sent three of them. She knows we don't buy chips and wanted us to have the audible experience. They ARE loud. Fun though. Oh I see. She wanted the three of us to crunch them together! Ahhhh...
We had a lot of fun seeing a bag decorated by our imaginative three year old granddaughter as well as a mobile she colored in.
Art put it up right away so that KC will be able to see it when she arrives in December.
And if you think Tiffany can pack a flat rate box really efficiently, you should she see her suitcase!

ReplyDeleteKC's contributions are the best of course, but my favorites are the form corners. So simply thoughtful and caring a thing to send! If I were Art I'd feel so truly loved.
The Sun Chip bags are compostable...on the bag they tell you how long they take. Thought you guys could try it. We're going to try it out here too.

ReplyDeleteFYI: The Sun Chip bags don't really compost very well. My boss went to a "green" conference the other day. They said they took the Sun Chip bag and composted it and it looked the same as it did as an uncompostable one. It was based on the compost information on the bag. That's disappointing. Sun Chips has also taken this bag off the market now. Too many people complained about the noise and it didn't compost well. Nice idea though!
how fun, just like Christmas...and then you get an extra gift to see them come near that special holiday. FAMILY FUN!

ReplyDeleteFun things, too, but the three empty sun chips bags made me laugh. And I see Tif says they are compostable. Plant them under one of Art's trees!

Could I get Tiff to send me one of those boxes? LOL! Last month we were on the mainland and I saw a Trader Joe's for the first time since I left Vegas. I yelled for Amoeba to stop, but he reminded me we were in a rental car, had a good mile to walk without it, and already had a whole case of homemade jam stuffed into our suitcase.

ReplyDeleteKay, re: swallowing big pills - I just read that a pharmacist suggests tilting your chin DOWN while swallowing (it helps open your esophagus & close the windpipe). My dad had success trying this method. Nancy
Ah, Trader Joes. We always bring back toasted pine nuts, almonds, dried blueberries, and dried cranberries.
ReplyDeleteYou are more of neatnick than I, I'm sure, and well organized, but I've gotta say I've become a good packer out of necessity. On the recent cruise we took, Terry and I managed with two Samsonite rollons, my backpack, and his computer in its case. We saw other people bringing on massive amounts of luggage.
What a fun idea! I'm sure your mom loved it.
