Many of my Zumba friends had mentioned going to CVS (Longs Drugs in Hawaii) to get their flu shots for free. We always got our flu shots at Tripler Army Medical Center and assumed that's where we had to get them through our insurance. Unfortunately, but understandably medical and military personnel get their shots first so retirees and dependents have to wait their turn.
Friends then told me that CVS would also give you a coupon for $5 off $25 purchase upon getting your flu shot using your Medicare Plan B card.
After going for our Tripler check-up and the doctor telling us that there would be a wait for the shots again, we decided to try CVS. It turned out that CVS was offering a higher dose flu shot for customers over 65.
We brought in our Medicare card, signed up for the shot and it was done in a jiffy. It was interesting that a friend of mine and myself did feel some aching in our arms the following day but her husband and Art felt nothing. The pharmacist was very friendly and gave the shot with minimum pain.
And yes, we got the coupon for the $5 off $25 purchase.
We'll definitely be getting our shots here from now on!

I had a slightly sore arm the day or two after I got my shot, but it was nothing compared to previous years. Hubby too had very little reaction. Suppose there's something in those male hormones? :-)
ReplyDeletewe got our flu shots here at the Wellness Center at Vantage House. We both have arm soreness this morning.
ReplyDeleteWe go to Walgreens and get the flu shot with no co-pay. I think the insurance companies have decided it's in their best interest to have people be immunized.
ReplyDeleteI found my arm sore as well, I was told it was because I wasn’t completely relaxed at the time they jabbed me, not sure if that’s true though, I’m glad you’re protected😊
ReplyDeleteFlu shots are also free here in Canada and available at drug stores.
ReplyDeleteCVS didn't have theirs when we went in, so we went to Walgreens. Yes, slightly achy arm for a few days, and slightly weird me for a few days too. Not bad.
ReplyDeleteI did have an rather unpleasant reaction to the HD shot but it wasn't as bad as the flu and was free. Just hope it is effective.
ReplyDeleteI love how the coupon says Longs Drugs. I wish they were still in business here in Fresno. Their service was impeccable. Can't say that for any of the current big chain pharmacies here. I use a neighborhood pharmacist for our drugs who I trust implicitly.
ReplyDeleteLove.
ReplyDeletegood for you...
ReplyDeleteOddly enough we just got back from ours. The doctor called this morning, and it's done. It's part of health care here, so I could go anywhere to get it -- like the pharmacy around the corner.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteMy employer gets us one for free
ReplyDeleteso us peasants make it to work.
I got my shots yesterday. I was in and out in an hour.
ReplyDeleteI got my flu shot and did not experience any pain. Pneumonia shots are being pushed now and i also heard about an updated, more effective shingle shot, but I have not looked into any of that yet.
ReplyDeleteWe got ours at our Kaiser Permanente clinic. Tom's arm was sore, but not mine.
