How Bitter Do You Like Your Chocolate?

I like dark chocolate, do you?

We were at an outlet mall in Wisconsin and there was a sale on Ghirardelli chocolate bars. I do try to restrict my intake of sugar and other carbs, but it must have been close to lunchtime and I gave in.

I think it cost 5 for $12.00 or something like that. There's only 4 here because I gave one away to a good friend.

Well...

I'd never had 92% before, but since I love dark chocolate, I figured it would be darker the better.

Nope. Sometimes more isn't better. It's probably healthier though with much less sugar.

86% was more palatable, but still a bit too dark.

It turned out the 72% was just about perfect.

Before leaving Illinois, my granddaughter (knowing my dark chocolate foibles) surprised me with a couple of these Lindt bars.

And yes, they were wonderful... perfect!

How dark do you like your chocolate?

  1. I do like dark chocolate but I will admit it took some getting used too, growing up there were no variations as now, it was all just chocolate but I have come to love the one your granddaughter has given you, 70 per event, I’m a wimp lol the rest are too bitter for me,

  2. My favorite are the 86%, but I too tried the 92% and found it too bitter. Not that I didn't eat it anyway! :-)

  3. I eat sugar free chocolate and they have dark chocolate-good with less guilt!

  4. For me 70% is my top limit. Maybe I could go higher if I didn't eat it all at once ha ha ha.

  6. 70% here too. I love dark chocolates. No Hersey's here.

  7. I've only just started delving into dark chocolate. I remember my dad liking Bourneville which I found too bitter at the time but I think my tastes are changing.

  9. Well I never knew that there were so many intricacies to chocolate! I have a choice when it comes to chocolate?

  10. Wasn't aware of degrees. I try to eat Dove Chocolate sparingly. It is hard not to gobble them. I have found if I have one, then rinse my mouth with plain water, I can eat just one. Leaving the chocolate taste in you mouth only makes you want more.

  12. I've found all the way to 95, which is the best, but not easy to come by!

  13. I love dark chocolate, don't really like milk chocolate anymore, but the standard, non-specialty chocolate is about 70-72 , like Hershey's Special Dark. That's what i go for. I don't think I've tried 92%

  14. Supposedly when your body wants chocolate, you only need a couple of squares. I like the 70% ones, but don't care for the ones with higher "only chocolate" content. If it weren't for the butter/fat content, I'd eat Hershey's milk chocolate, Butterfingers, or Milky Ways in the freezer.

  15. I like dark but I'd probably prefer less than 72 really. Which means I'm not a connoisseur. :)

  16. I love any dark chocolate that is 70% or above :)

    All the best Jan
