Art has once again signed us up for the Great Aloha Run (Walk) which is held in February on Presidents Day. It's time for me to start training for it because Art is already more than ready for any walk/jog. He exercises almost daily. I'm the slouch and it's showing. I've gained 4-5 pounds over the holidays.
I like to listen to music when I walk. Art likes silence to meditate, but he makes a concession just to get me to walk.
I like listening to the Pandora radio app on my smartphone but I have to hold it in my hand which is not all that comfortable so I had this idea.
I used a little bit of some left over material and made a little pouch. It worked great and I could listen to some music when we started our evening walks.
Hmmm...
Who knows? Maybe I'll use the pouch at the Great Aloha Walk too. Anything to help me get through it.

fun idea, exercise while you can. My knee bothers me when I walk too much so I'm taking it easier...
ReplyDeleteI should do what you do, but I am so lazy. Getting me out of the house would take an act of Congress.
ReplyDeleteLove your pouch and I know what you mean about 5 pounds I think mine is here to stay.
ReplyDeleteYou look great and read for challenge
ReplyDeleteClever you!
ReplyDeleteThat is a creative solution if I ever saw one.
ReplyDeleteOh, a clever idea, Kay!! Creative it is indeed!! Have a safe run and a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteVery smart. Good luck with the training!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an excellent plan.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be agony if you don't exercise every day. The music bag is a great idea. Yes, wear it on the walk. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteLove music when I exercise also. Kind of puts a spring in your step. Nice pouch. You probably could market them.
ReplyDeleteWhen I ran , I was on automatic pilot. The motion had me mesmerized. Now It looks like you have made a super app to hold your phone.
ReplyDeleteWow I was just thinking of how I wanted a sling/pouch to hold my kindle when I am out and about. I've dropped it so many times already, then I thought a backpack type to keep it out of the way and lightweight. I went online but I'm too tight to spend any sum on it...I think Walmart has a square plastic bag I saw that I can use for that purpose and hopefully only a few bucks. It has to be small and extremely light. Anything to keep my arms and hand free!
ReplyDeleteThere are any number of small bags you can get for a Kindle, especially a Paper White. I always stick mine in my tiny backpack. Ross might have a small inexpensive shoulder bag.
DeleteCould you sign your first name to your comments so I know who you are please.
Very good solution and it will keep you company while you get your exercise!
ReplyDeleteJalna made those crossbody pouches - I was lucky enough to win her Hello Kityy one. After I got it I started making crossbody pouches with old denim jeans - though they were very tough to sew on. Then I did one in palaka fabric.
You have inspired me to keep making them until I get it down just right. Maybe when I do I will do a giveaway online the way that she does.
Very nice, Kay. I am like Art, I don't like music or podcasts when I'm exercising, unless I'm on the treadmill at the gym, which is SO boring. :-)
ReplyDeleteI also like Pandora a lot, much better than standard radio
ReplyDeleteI listen to music or the radio on my iPod Nano and earbuds. My nano is about the size of a postage stamp. I'm surprised you don't use earbuds with your phone.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing you don't like earbuds. They bother some people. I hated them at first and am now used to them.
ReplyDeleteActually I did use earbuds at first, BUT Art felt I couldn't hear him if he wanted to talk to me. He doesn't mind having me play my music now while we walk and I can still hear him. When he runs or walks without me, he does it in silence with just his cellphone apps to monitor how far he's walking, etc.
ReplyDeletegreat idea
ReplyDeletegreat minds think alike
i did the same but for my lil camera
OMG! I have one of those that was my mother's. She called it a pocket and used it when her clothing did not have any pockets. I use it for my phone all the time but it is about worn out. I wish I could sew!!!
ReplyDeleteVery clever idea Kay.
ReplyDeleteKay, I admire your energy. I do walk some but do not run anymore. Your pounch is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteYou made my day. I feel less alone. I also walk with a pouch similar to yours. Sometimes, I feel a bit silly, but then I am swayed by the ease of having a place for my water bottle, some tissues, and my phone. I bought my pouch in Zion National Park. It has a larger area for a water bottle and a small pocket on the front for the phone. I like to have my water with me when I walk. I also like having my phone for photos or to listen to music if I walk on the track. I seldom listen to music when I walk outside because I want to hear footsteps and cars and etc. around me.
