It's true. It's cold in Hawaii. It was 60 degrees F when Art went for his walk on Monday morning.
To be honest, I welcomed the lower temperature because it was my Zumba day and it's a lot more comfortable when the breezes are cooler.
Mom, however, was suffering. Wearing a sweater wasn't enough for her. I was wondering if she was going to wear the ski jacket we bought her a while ago for travel.
For people in Hawaii, anything below 70 degrees F (15 C) is freezing.
Friends in different parts of the island reported temperatures anywhere from 54 to 60 degrees F.
I sure hope all the tourists brought sweaters. If not, the stores should be doing a brisk business.

I can see what you'd say it was cold. I wouldn't wear shorts and a t shirt if it was only 60 outside. It would be sweatshirt or sweater weather unless I was working in the garden.
ReplyDeleteI must remember never to invite your mother to Israel in the winter. Inside our houses, made of concrete with stone floors, it stays cold all winter. To warm up, you have to go outside, IF it's not raining. I have four layers on right now, and that's with the radiator on. Good luck to Mom!
ReplyDeleteIt is funny to think what cold is to one person is perfect for another. We got up to 59 yesterday, maybe even 60, and I carried my sweater with me. But then again, I don't live in Hawaii-type conditions. :-)
ReplyDeletewe are thrilled when it warms to 60 which it was yesterday and going up!
ReplyDeleteI never thought of that. Those temps are great for me and can't imagine wrapping up to face 60 degrees.
ReplyDeleteIt's all in your perspective! I had a wonderful walk on the frozen wetland. Today it's about -7 C (19 F.!)
ReplyDeleteAnd it's no wonder we have so many snowbirds! :-)
That is so funny. Living in Oregon temps in the high 50s and low 60s is perfect weather. Most of our days are in the 40s. Not enough for a coat but perfect for a fleece vest.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like the weather in Florida right now a bit crazy.
ReplyDeleteI can tolerate 40s and 50s. 32ish is too cold
ReplyDeleteWe're warmeeting for the time of year in the UK at 57f but I wouldn't wear shorts and t shirt. We just can do without normal gloves and thermals.
ReplyDeleteMom has all my sympathy. The only place I am warm in winter is in my car, heater on high. Laura loves it too, Emily sits in the back.
ReplyDeleteabove 60 and i am not happy. 60 is on the warm side for me.
ReplyDeleteCold weather in Hawaii is socks and boots time! I love it when it is like this - sunny, cool, not too dry, BLISS!
ReplyDeleteHa, I remember in Fl being excited when the temps dropped below 60. We finally got to wear a jacket. Yipee. Thin blood makes a difference and is a real thing.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be too happy for the temps to be in the 60s if I made a trip to Hawaii. It's actually 78 here in Texas today, so pretty warm.
ReplyDeleteOkay, old for Hawaii! It's all relative. It's what we get used to.
ReplyDeleteI wondered what "cold" was in Hawaii. I know when we were there our only time, right after Christmas many years ago, the "natives" complained that it was cold. We thought it was just right.
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing. You just don't equate those kind of temperatures with Hawaii.
ReplyDeletewell imagine that,, its minus 33 Celsius here,, we need much more than a sweater I must say,, lol,,
ReplyDeleteI feel cold when it gets below 70. My bones and joints ache.
ReplyDeleteWhere we used to live in Kamueula it gets pretty cold. In fact friends told us it got down to 43 degrees on the wet side of Kamuela during the recent cold spell
ReplyDelete^^Kamuela, Hawaii near Honokaa
