Our son sent us a photo of the snowstorm that hit the East coast last week. His car was totally buried.
That was indeed a lot of snow. I believe he said there was about two feet of snow.
I remember when we moved to Chicago and had a huge snow fall, people would tell us that was nothing compared to the blizzard of '67.
Well, now I'm finding myself saying, "You think that was bad in Pennsylvania?"
We were in Chicago for the Blizzard of '79. Tiffany was four years old at the time and Keola was one.
The Chicago Blizzard of '79 had 21 inches of snowfall so actually Pennsylvania had more snow, but our photos seem to show our snowfall was much more significant.
I really do like snow... but not this much. We are too old to shovel anymore.

Sadly there were something like 49 deaths related to snow shoveling. Our winter has been mild but even at it's worse it has never been as bad as that. I know you have worried about your family. When I saw that you titled your post SNOW I first thought "in Hawaii?" LOL
ReplyDeleteWe normally get snow like that in the UK. The last few years have been quite mild and so not had that misfortune. I find paths dangers after the shovelling as they become icy. I prefer to walk on snow.
ReplyDeleteI too remember snow falls like those you pictured. Pretty while it is falling, but loses something of it's attraction fairly quickly in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteWe had snowfalls like that in Colorado, but here in the Pacific Northwest, the snow mostly stays in the mountains where it belongs. Love those pictures! I also saw the post title and wondered if the weather has REALLY gotten wacky enough to snow in Hawaii. :-)
ReplyDeleteglad there's no snow in Hawaii, we were told we would have snow today but it's just rain. HURRAH!
ReplyDeleteWe were in that snowstorm here. But now the temps are rising here. Overnight stayed above freezing so its quickly melting. I wonder how long the huge mounds in the parking lots will last though. They're like little glaciers.

ReplyDeleteWe went to the Oregon Coast yesterday there was snow on Highway 26 and I got so freezing in it, always take a thick coat when going to the Oregon or Washington coasts as one never knows what one will find..Had Clams and Crab and some Mussels at a hole in the wall place our favorite, other tourist not there the owner knows up and prepared a feast for our way ahead of time Valentines splurge..This is Mary from Vancouver aloha dear people who live in paradise, if I ever got back to Hawaii any island it would be hard for me to return state side..We have many relatives in Illinois and back east in NYC they seem to roll with the punches of snow, hotter than you know what heat and humidity...We think where you live is a paradise on this earth. Lush, green and full of the sun and blue skies and lovely lovely people who get their families and love them so much, the vibes I got from Maui was something else not on the mainland but Maui many years ago did not want to return to San Diego, Aloha and have a wonderful Valentines day coming up! peace and joy and love mary!

ReplyDeleteit hasn't been fun for the East coast this year though,, so much snow in such a short time,,
here in Northern Ontario we have lots of snow every year, it stays until April, I wish it would miss us once in a while..
I'm thankful that all we've had this year is a couple of inches of snow.
ReplyDeleteThis one called for a snowblower! There were a lot of heart attacks on our last big snow. But Toronto is having a strangely mild winter. It is almost springlike today.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado...I can remember SNOW! But the issues are usually wind driven piles of snow and that was the issue for this last storm. We got about 14 inches, but on the deck where snow was blown from the roof it was closer to 30 inches!

ReplyDeleteIt is snowing here. We are supposed to get a big snow. Bigger than we've had in a number of years. I like snow in the mountains, but now in the foothills and valleys beneath the mountains where I live. My son in Scranton, PA has had a very mild winter. They have four snow shovels he told me and they haven't had to use one yet this year. Crazy.

ReplyDeleteThis looks like heavy wet snow and it is very hard to shovel. It's good to look back at events like this.
ReplyDeleteWe always look forward to having one good snowfall each winter, maybe about four inches or so. Then we want it to go away and be done with it. Nothing much falling from the sky but rain so far this winter.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking coat! You look so styling! One thing we don't have here is the opportunity to wear wonderful winter clothes with gorgeous boots and layers of coordinates. However, when the weather dips into the 60's, we all shiver and bundle up and then it gets too hot as the day wears on.
ReplyDeleteI only saw snow once in my life, on the rooftops and eaves in Japan, and it was so beautiful.
Lovely to look at - from afar. The further the better lol. My blood is too thin to be involved with all that white stuff :)
