Oh what a relief it is!
It happened again! We were finishing our dinner here in Hawaii and we got the early news that President Obama was already re-elected! (Hawaii is always the last to finish voting.) We'd been expecting a long, stressful night.
The local news were reporting that Hawaii voters were still waiting in line by the hundreds to vote because they had run out of paper ballots!

Oh my gosh! I'm so relieved.
I'm so happy!
Local boy makes good. Mazal tov to President Obama!
ReplyDeleteThe first thing he should fix is to make it easier to cast a vote.
Hi Dina -- During his acceptance speech, Obama thanked voters who stood in long lines, and said, "by the way, we gotta fix that." States have lots of individual control about the voting process, so I'm curious how he'll force a good fix.
DeleteGlad the world is watching us!

And God bless America!
ReplyDeleteThe other feller must have been very unappealing, for the one who is likely the most second rate president ever to be reelected!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, he's got one achievement now, having for the first time in his life held a job for 4 years!
they sure announced it early on the local news, didn't they. A relief, the whole world is relieved. Seriously. The all-news station reported that people in Europe were glad, not so much Obama won, but that the repubs didn't regain the presidency.
ReplyDeleteIt's a happy morning here too!
ReplyDeleteBut trying to figure out why Bachmann is still an elected official.
Also my state has shown itself to be very conservative now, so locally I'm not so thrilled. When you see your state legislature mocked on the Colbert show more than once, that seems like a sign that maybe things are going in the wrong direction.
happy your choice got in, its a chilly morning here!
ReplyDeleteAnnouncing the winner while people were still waiting to vote doesn't seem fair.
ReplyDeleteWe here in Washington State also legalized marijuana and made same-sex marriage legal as well. It had passed the legislature and was waiting for it to make it through the ballot box (marriage equality). I am very happy, too. All the swing states but one went Obama's way. Every single man who made comments about rape was defeated. A good day indeed.
ReplyDeleteHooray! Glad Hawaii kept voting while the East was declaring winners so soon.
ReplyDeleteYep, some conservative states are getting a bit scary. In Kansas, the anti-evolution guy lost; whew! Next door in Missouri, where Akin reeks his incorrect rape information, about rape victims being able to shut that whole thing down.......well, his opponent, a democrat, just "shut that whole Akin thing down....."
Bo Obama, and dogs across the country, are glad that rides on top of cars will not become common practice! Oscar, Grover, and Big Bird are happy too!

Hawaii was the icing on the cake. Good job.
ReplyDeleteI found his victory speech uplifting and I felt it showed his brilliance not.just as a fine orator but as a great leader...his understanding and appreciation of people and the complexities of the world. I did pick up his allusion to a part time jobs economy...sigh could this be the first of a string of truths to the day of reckoning soon upon us?
ReplyDeleteHe talked of people who had to stand in long lines and that it was a problem that should be fixed too. That did give us a chuckle because I figured he was talking about Hawaii.
DeleteQuoting from a friend on facebook:
ReplyDelete"I love this Country, and even though the events of tonight have left me unhappy. I believe that the strength of this nation will carry us through, 4 more years has the potential to harm us yes but, America will overcome. I believe in this land."
There are 2 (more) parties and some are happy and some are not. I hope for the best.
I'm SO thrilled for your "local guy" and for our country! What a great night it turned out to be!!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for you Kay, but with the same mix of Representatives in Washington, I don't expect big things. Dianne
ReplyDeleteSadly... Congress is the same.
DeleteSo happy for you Kay!
ReplyDeleteThat is my word too. Relief. I feel a calm I haven't felt in quite a time.
ReplyDeleteHappy dance!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy also. Congrats to your local guy! I am relieved to hear we all have four more years.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised and relieved when the Obama victory was declared at 8:10 here in Seattle. I expected a long night.
ReplyDeleteWe are still counting ballots here, since they are all mail in and don't have to be postmarked until 8PM on election day. We are waiting to know who our new governor is, as well as some ballot issues. It looks good for same sex marriage and legalized recreational use of marijuana. Charter schools are still in doubt, which is OK with me.
I have family members who are very unhappy with the election results, and think the country and the state are going to hell - literally. As for me, I'm very happy to be a winner!
We are also happy in my country! congratulations, Kay with this wonderful president!
ReplyDeleteThanks also for your visit and comment. Yes we can walk to Kinderdijk. From my house it's only
a 10 minutes walk to the ferry, and from the ferry another 10 minutes. So if you come again....you know where to find me!!
I think there are SO many that are as thrilled, relieved and overjoyed as you and I are, Kay!! A great day for our country and us!
ReplyDeleteRELIEVED!
