My friend, Jean has sent me more helpful tips. This time it's about food and I just had to share it with you.
This sounds like fun. It looks pretty and gosh... does this make your wine even healthier?
OK, you didn't know there was a use for your old CD spindles, right? Here it is!
I don't make balogna sandwiches much anymore, but here's a way to solve your empty corner problem.
I've never tried this, but I will... if I remember. Have you done this?
POSTSCRIPT:
I just looked this up on Internet and found that the wooden spoon will stop it from boiling over as quickly, but it can still boil over. Also, it can warp your spoon so you should use one that you don't much care for.
I really like this idea. This would be great for outdoor parties, don't you think?
If you have a small cookbook to hold up or a recipe on a sheet, this would be wonderful!
I'm almost tempted to buy a roll or cake to try using some floss to cut it.
Now this is sure a fun way to make some cute little hors d'oeuvres.
I like this idea, but does this mean I can keep some batter in the fridge to use later?
That would be nice.
And who would have thought to do this?
Granted I don't drink soft drinks with a straw that often anymore, but I know some people who do.
What fun!
And that's it for now... until Jean sends me something else to share.

I would use the idea for the recipe book but all my handwritten recipes that I have stuffed in there over the years would go flying out! HA!
ReplyDeleteAnd my Mother used to use a thin white thread to make her 2 layer cakes into 4 layer cakes. She couldn't cook worth a lick, but she was a good baker. Thanks for sharing these.
must try, must try.
ReplyDeleteInteresting! You come up with some doozies, Kay. Or your friend Jean does. I wonder why a wooden spoon works to keep the pot from boiling over. :-)
ReplyDeleteMe too. I hope Linda Reeder will try it and let us know if it works for sure.
DeleteIt is physics , the heat produced in the pot or vessel is absorbed by wood because wood has larger capacity to store heat and thus the water don't boil over.
Deleteit also pops the bubbles. lol
DeleteIF you try the cutting-with-floss trick make sure you use PLAIN floss, not mint-flavored :-)
ReplyDeleteI have used the floss or thread to cut cinammon rolls but the rest are new ideas to try...thanks!
ReplyDeletethat Jean is one clever lady! I love them all except the ketchup bottle one, washing the ketchup bottle once for recycling is enough for me, yuk!
ReplyDeleteWow, all great ideas. I use chip clips to hang my single page recipes for handy reference. Might try that taco shell idea with pie dough to make tarts. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteMore helpful ideas, running out of brain space to file them lol
ReplyDeleteL...w
But I loooove your posts Kay!!
DeleteL...w
Awwww... thank you L. I'm so glad.
DeleteInteresting tips. Thanks for sharing, Kay.
ReplyDeleteI am glad HP offered a replacement monitor. But I would have insisted on getting a brand new one.
David said a Jesus prayer at our Thanksgiving meal. Short and sweet, that's what I like. So often, people go on and on with their prayer and I lose patience with that.
It was either the refurbished one or none at all, Gigi. I don't think I would be able to have the nerve to make a demand like that, I'm afraid. It's not like they were obligated to do anything at all because the warranty period WAS expired. I was lucky to get what they offered.
DeleteThose are really some great ideas!!!
ReplyDeleteHow have you been? I've just been running around in circles. Life gets so busy, it's a shame.
These are fun. Thanks.
ReplyDeletewhat neat and innovative tips!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Laurie, washing a ketchup bottle is no fun atallatall.
ReplyDeleteI snaffled the photo of the bagel-holder to send to Dick, though. Everyone's Jewish husband ought to have a bagel-holder, right?
K
Oh too funny! I didn't even think of that. I shall have to send this to a bunch of my bagel eating friends.
DeleteThe grapes and the wooden spoon do it for me. Oh, and I sent my sister the taco shells.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! I love it when people are able to use these ideas.
DeleteLoved the tips.Really helpful.
ReplyDeleteLOL! All good stuff!

I think I have to biol something just to try the wooden spoon thing. I could have used it on my pasta pot today!
ReplyDeleteWould you tell me if it works? I'd love to know.
DeleteI love your tip posts and there are some good ones here again.
ReplyDeleteFrom the last post, I made a little dustpan from a milk container. It solved a huge problem for me. Thank you!
I always love reading these tips Kay, but there are very few that I'd actually use I think. I like the idea of freezing grapes to put in white wine though, it would look pretty and help with the 5-a-day fruit and veg intake.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried to cut cakes with floss
ReplyDeleteI love bagel sandwiches and I have so many empty DVD spindles! Thank you! I now have 8 that I was wash every week now!
ReplyDeleteUm.. .That's what the pop can tab is for... It's not a new trick, it's the intended use
ReplyDeleteThe slicing cake seems impossible what if you rub the string thingy across the icing letters?...it will mess it up!
ReplyDeleteVery true. I haven’t tried it yet. In fact, I totally forgot about this trick. I guess it really doesn’t bother me if the cake is cut not quite perfectly.
